The plot of the game Madison is one of the most mysterious of all the games I have played recently. The ending left me completely confused. I think many people are interested in understanding what exactly happened in this game. I want to share how I understood the events that happened in this wonderful but creepy game.
We play as a guy named Luca Maxwell. Waking up, the hero realizes that he was locked in a room, into which a distraught father was furiously knocking, claiming that we were possessed and killed our mother and sister.
Luka himself does not remember anything and is in complete shock from what is happening. Without thinking twice, the guy decides to run away. In the next room he finds a gift for his 16th birthday – a Polaroid camera.
The desperate protagonist is trying to get out of the house, but more and more often he begins to see various hallucinations.
As we learn from the audio cassette, which we find while exploring the house, a demon is trying to possess the guy.

Who exactly is this demon? In order to answer this question, we need to clarify another plot thread.
The camera given to Luca previously belonged to a woman named Madison Hale. And this woman was not an ordinary, ordinary, normal person.
. and was a serial killer. Her fate reminds me a little of the fate of Walter Sullivan from Silent Hill 4. Madison, like Walter, committed murders, thus performing a ritual. Hale required 7 victims, not 21 like Sullivan, but she also could not complete this ritual to the end. After the 4th murder, the villain was shot by a policeman named Russell. Like Walter’s life, Madison’s life was cut short before she could finish her plan. And finally, the last similarity is that both of these villains, one way or another, continued their dirty work after death.
The fate of Luke Maxwell
And now I return to the main character. As it becomes clear, the Polaroid contained the soul of Madison, which began to take possession of Luca, using his body to complete the ritual she had begun. This is what the protagonist does before and during the events of the game, increasingly losing control of himself and acting at the will of the demon inside him.
To complete the ritual, 3 victims were missing. Two of the three were Luke’s sister and mother. And the last one.
I want to say that this is just my interpretation of the ending, and versions may be different, but I think that the last victim was Luka himself. The protagonist was never able to get rid of the demon possession, it only grew as the game progressed. We were also told about this in one of the audio recordings. And when we open our journal at the end of the game, we see that the inscription “father’s head” is crossed out (the father was supposed to be the last, but was saved), and instead of it the inscription “hanged son” appears. It turns out that the game ends with Luka successfully completing the ritual and summoning the demon to our world.
There’s just one more question left to answer. What does Blue Knees have to do with all this – the creepy monster that haunts us towards the end of the game?.
Many years ago, Luca’s parents went to a junk sale and bought a book called Blue Knees, which describes the terrible story of the monster of the same name. Together with the book, they brought a real nightmare into their home.
First, Elizabeth, Luke’s grandmother, began waking up in the middle of the night feeling as if someone was standing in the corner of the room, then she found her jewelry scattered, and her son, Johnny, began having regular nightmares. Then Elizabeth began to notice that her vision was deteriorating. And then her pupils disappeared completely. Shortly afterwards she died.
Apparently, Elizabeth’s ashes were also part of the ritual and Blueknee acted in concert with Madison.
